01:06  /  Midtown Detroit Viaduct Project  "Points of Origin"

Partnering with Midtown Detroit is always a pleasure.  We had the fantastic opportunity to participate in their Viaduct project - illuminating one of three railroad Viaduct pass-throughs west of Woodward Avenue in Detroit, MI.  Just south of Baltimore Avenue along 3rd Street under the railroad overpass, Mindfield created and installed "Points of Origin", a permanent light sculpture constructed of custom cut wood patterns and LED lighting.  Using maps of the city for inspiration we created a layered lighting experience relevant to the ideas of transportation and throughput, illuminating the passageways with street formations.  Occupying four walls the sculpture is eight feet tall and over 160 feet in length in total.
